I had tried some my daughter had, ones that are harder to chew, but have different sweeteners in them, plus didn't have an orange flavor. Also I haven't started taking them 3 times a day before meals, I keep forgetting and only take them when I start having problems - which is wrong. So I must remind myself!! But I think the other ones with the better sweetener and no orange flavor (from the same brand), might have done better for me. I will try these awhile longer to figure it all out. I just feel like I bought the wrong ones - which is my fault for not researching more thoroughly about the product!!Started using this product a little over two years ago. My stomach feels much much better and only taking acid pill every other day now.I had a stressful event and was suffering from GERD (acid reflux, heartburn) so badly that I lost my voice and couldn't even talk for a week. I tried apple cider vinegar, d-limonene and digestive enzymes and nothing seemed to work. I read an article called "The 7 Best Supplements for GERD Sufferers" by Dr. Hoffman (highly recommend) which lists DGL tablets as the #1 heartburn remedy. Within a few days of chewing these tablets 6 to 8 times a day and taking 3mg of melatonin at night, my reflux went away and my voice sounded fine again. Dr. Hoffman says you have to take them several times a day and I think he's right. The taste of these tablets is slightly weird and herbal at first but I quickly got used to the taste and now I consider them to be soothing and delicious. The other brands have sugar or artifical sweeteners and this one is more natural.Best thing I’ve tried so far! I tried taking Omeprazole and after three days it stopped working. I don’t want to rely on pills, especially after reading about how bad they are long-term. I want to help heal my gut (although I do suspect I may have a weak LES.) But two days after starting these DGL tablets, I noticed an improvement in symptoms. I normally don’t experience heartburn (I have, but it’s very rare for me). I just get that lump in the throat feeling, and can feel everything moving up and down my throat. Taking 2-3 of these a day reduces my symptoms, and I notice sometimes that I don’t feel anything in my throat at all! I sleep very well at night now and no longer rely on sleeping on my left side (another trick if you suffer from reflux). I’m going to continue taking these every day while also changing my diet. Any improvement in symptoms is a good sign! I don’t know how long it’ll take to get rid of the reflux for good, but this is a good start! WARNING: These taste awful! But I don’t know what kind of DGL brand tastes “good.” Just press down on your nostrils so you can’t taste it while chewing!I recently switched to Planetary Herbals DGL tablets. I used to use Enzymatic Therapy's brand for years. The reason for the switch was to eliminate the added fillers and sweeteners ET brand puts in their DGL tablets. PH tablets work as well as ET brand tablets, the downside being PH tablets taste is not great (but mild) and the tablets don't dissolve as well in the mouth. To me, no DGL tablet tastes good, as I don't like licorice flavor.You could grind up the tablet and put it in something like apple sauce to get it down faster like some other posters have stated but I think perhaps you miss some of the benefits of taking DGL tablets in that manner. For the tablets to work their best, you are supposed to let is slowly dissolve in the mouth... mixing with your saliva and letting is "go down the hatch" slowly that way.Anyway, in my opinion, DGL is far more beneficial and safer than taking OTC and prescription medications for heartburn/GERD/ulcers. For me, I take it for 2-4 weeks (at least a week after experiencing any symptoms) and I will not have a reoccurrence for months at a time.I am using these for chronic acid reflux. They work some of the time and I am happy to have a natural option. I recently weaned myself off Nexium after using it daily for two years. That was awful!! Worst reflux I have ever had for weeks until my body adjusted to no Nexium. I used a combination of vinegar, licorice tabs and occasional ranitadine to help. Now, I mainly use the licorice. I take it 30-60 minutes before eating if I think my food may cause reflux and I use them like Tums if I already have reflux. They don't always work, but I would two thirds of the time, they work like a charm.This is the best quality DGL I have experienced so far. So many DGL tablets contain a lot of other ingredients but these seemed much healthier in that respect, so I tried them. Tablets have a natural licorice flavor and outperform the thin tasting, sugary, artificial taste of other DGL tablets. These tablets dissolve slowly for prolonged flavor, yet are soft enough to chew without any sugary texture. They really taste just like licorice, without other flavors added for enhancements. The best you can find in dissolvable DGL tablets, in my opinion.DGL is such a pleasant way to deal with indigestion. I like the licorice flavor and chew one or two if I have had a high-acid meal, like spaghetti with tomato sauce.No visible benefits. My health didn’t improve one bit.good
